About Me
This is my third year at Newburg United School, my 35th year overall. I grew up in South Dakota where I graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell. I am married to Tim and we live in Audubon, MN. My children are grown with families of their own. Jeremy and Lacey have 3 boys, Braeyn 7 and Bodyn 5 and Banks 2. Jay and Kathleen have two sons Paxton who is 4 and Callen 2 months. I also have 4 step-children, Jeff, Jennifer, David and Thomas. I enjoy watching all sporting events, golfing, being outdoors and spending time with family. Soar like an Eagle and go Sioux!

Lessons
Lessons are planned around the math standards taken from the North Dakota Public Instruction website.
Math Standards
Grading
Late homework will receive 50% of the possible points for the assignment. Absent students will make up homework as described in the student handbook and will be given extra time to complete the work.
My Classroom
Along with traditional lessons, I also incorporate projects and STEM into my curriculum. I get a lot of my project ideas from a web site called Teachers Pay Teachers. An example would be having my class build catapults and write the equations of the trajectories after our unit on quadratic equations. My hope is that the projects and hands on activities will give students something practical to help remember the more difficult topics.
Distance Learning
If we move to distance learning, I will be using google classroom and the remind app to communicate with students and parents. Assignments will be posted on google classroom. For face to face contact, I will be using zoom. The link for zoom will be posted in google classroom. I will be using a variety of tools for lessons. I will be using IXL.com to review old concepts and also introduce new ones. I will also be posting videos that I have found online to explain topics. Khan academy, math antics and math dude provide excellent explanations. I will also be recording videos of myself going through sample problems. We will have whole group (one class at a time) zoom meetings, but parents and students can also request individual zoom meetings. Feel free to email or send me a message on remind if you have any questions.
